I ordered the miracle grill mat because I wanted something for grilling that would do a good job protecting from flame while enabling good grilling and have to say these have generally met the match! I love how easy the grill mat is to clean up, I also love how when you grill with them some of the juice chars to the mats enabling you to use that with veggies or to make a rue. That said I love them for doing burgers, chicken or anything else that you don't want directly on the grill including veggies.
How to eliminate flares up when grilling?
I easily trimmed the YRYM HT copper mat for grill to fit my grill and it works very well cooking meats and vegetables. We've loved these! Keeps the steaks cooked perfectly without flare ups or burn marks. Surprisingly you still get grill marks on your meat (which I like) but without any burn. Keeps it moist too. It's been great. Easy to clean too. I have become a huge fan of internal temp bbqing and got myself a good digital thermometer that has a long heat resistant cord that allows me to lay read out component far from the grill. I was skeptical, but this really works. We decided to splurge on mats that had a higher temperature in hopes they would last longer. Hubby puts it on the BBQ, and voila! Much of the mess is eliminated, including drips that clog the BBQ and potentially lure unwelcome guests (like rodents, racoons, etc.) It says they're OK for the dishwasher, so I tried it. But actually, it's more efficient to just toss it in the sink with some sudsy water, and use the dish brush the get it clean in a jiffy. I'd but it again -- but hope I won't need to for many years.
The miracle grill mat turned out GREAT! Browned nicely and much more juicy than cooking on the open grill grates. Easily cleaned in sink with warm soapy water. These mats worked as described and I was pleased with the result. They are easy to clean and do leave grill marks on whatever is being cooked. If there's an issue is that the mat has such a non-stick surface that whatever you are cooking can slide around the mat. As such, use good tongs or a good spatula when trying to flip your food.
One suggestion is to cut the mats to the size of your grill when you receive them. This will enable you to fully close the lid on the grill and retain heat for the cooking process. I have used several brands of grill mats before, and they always fall apart in around a year or so. These mats are clearly made to last. They are much thicker than other brands, which explains the seven year warranty. They work great and are holding up extremely well. These were great for the 50 shish kabobs we cooked. It did take more than just running them under water to clean them well enough to use again. But I'm sure that can be expected with that much marinade and veggies! They kept anything from falling through the grates and cooked them evenly. I would recommend these.
