Bought the barbecue mat as gift for my husband to use with his Weber gas grill. He recently used to grill bacon wrapped shrimp - worked great (the first time we had tried without this mat the dripping grease burned the shrimp and started fire in grill). This was wonderful and he likes the mats. I didn't really think these would live up to the reviews, but they do. We grill all the time, and use these pads. Our expensive built in Weber Grill never was so clean. We wipe off the grease after the pads cool with paper towels, then they clean easily in the kitchen sink. I use the green scrubbing pads and everything cleans right off.
Food does not stick to grate with barbecue mat. Does indeed get grill marks and smokey flavor. Mat is a bit hard to clean as it requires scrubbing and a bit of maneuvering to keep it from crumpling/bending in the sink. Overall, it is a winner! Used the mat for the first time today. Grilled a pork tenderloin. Was done to medium temp using the grill on low heat in 40 minutes. Note the on low, the mat surface temp was in the high 400s (would vary by grill), so watch the max temp. Took 230 seconds to wash the mat to brand new condition. I LOVE this thing! Get one. I used the YRYM HT grill mat for the first time today. I bought the small one as we are a 2-person house. I was pretty amazed that the grill marks on my salmon came through as well as they did. Having the mat on your grill may slightly increase the cooking time but no big deal. Amazed that it goes thru the dishwasher also. Great product!
First time use we cooked skirt steak kabobs medium well, no overcooking nor burning, great taste no mess! We received our very first BBQ grill mat from my sister and brother-in-law a couple of years ago as a 'gift' (they were so impressed by them they gave us one). Later, we had to order another from Amazon last year, because the old one was 'trashed', and THAT'S when we discovered this Kona grille mat... Well, to say it simply, we were VERY impressed by the better quality of our Kona mat as compared to that earlier mat my sis gave us, so today I ordered yet another for our new grille (can't have an old one on a new grille, now can I..?). VERY highly recommended.. Keeps our new grille so clean, and makes cleanup a breeze. And since the new one is arriving in just a couple of days from Amazon, I'll just put this 'old' one back on the old grille...
I was grilling in the neighborhood the other day when I saw a neighbor using this product and was immediately amazed at how well it worked. From heat to grill marks this product is simply amazing. I immediately jumped on Amazon to get this product for myself. It came fast and is definitely worth the money spent! We've used grill mats in the past that were flimsy and started to tear apart at edges after only a couple uses. The Kona mat is a lot more durable and worked much better!
