Do the copper grill mat need to be seasoned? heating with olive oil in an oven? No, just wash them with warm soapy water before and I'd say after each use to clean. I used olive oil to grill veggies and it worked well copper grill mat. I also grilled chicken without oil and it was perfect. So, either way! I'm a commercial kitchen manager, were having trouble with our salamander flaring up. Would this probuct be effective? Can I cut it to fit? It should prevent flare ups & you can cut to fit any size. Just be careful and only use wooden or plastic utensils as metal ones will degrade the mat with extreme temps. Can you use to cook pancakes and eggs?
What are the pros and cons of this thicker mat, compared to others? The pro's of the extra thickness are longer life, higher durability, less likely to tear, etc. and they are way less likely to blow off your grill. The cons would be with some food items you are cooking, like chicken, you will have to adjust the temperature up or down slightly to achieve nice looking grill marks. If the grill is too hot the grill mats will even the heat out some amd give you more of a complete sear. Adjusting the temperature down slightly will give you much better grill marks in these cases. Super thin grill mats will not even the heat out so getting a complete sear is less likely with those. I hope that helps. Have a great day,
Absolutely! Is this dishwasher safe? You'd have to check with the manufacturer to determine whether the mats are dishwasher safe. However, they clean up very easily with a sponge, soap, and warm water so I've never had to put them in the dishwasher. How can the mats be 10 oz when the shipping weight is 6.4 oz? How can you say the mats weigh 10 ounces each, yet the shipping weight for 2 mats is 6.4 OZ?the shipping weight includes the box and filler as well. the shipping weight includes the box and filler as well.
Assuming the grill is level, juices will stay on the mat until they cook off. IF you are cooking something with high water content, such as 80/20 hamburger, grill tools you will actually want to absorb the water and oil with a paper towel between tongs, push it off with the back of a spatula or move the burger to another portion of the mat. This water if allowed to pool around your item will cool off that portion of the mat to below the boiling point of water, much too cool for searing, but fine for low and slow. Lower fat hamburger, chicken, steak, fish and veggies will not have excess water issues when cooking.
